I would have called myself a movie buff a decade back. My husband and I used to visit theaters almost every weekend. Then pandemic hit and our movie watching got restricted to OTT platforms. Slowly, my interest started declining in movies. Even after theaters opened, we were not excited to go back to theaters like earlier days. And on OTT, we are overwhelmed by the choices. And honestly, very few good ones to watch from them.
How about you? Will you call yourself a movie buff??

I used to be when I was in college and when I used to stay in Bhiwadi during my first job. As I was single at that time and used to stay alone , I never used to miss a new movie in a week and used to watch first day show with the friends. But now because of the lack of time and family responsibilities I rarely go to theater with the family to the theater. My wife doesn't like to go to theater at all, she says it's a waste of time and likes to watch movies on Netflix, Jio, Zee etc. last movie we watched was WAR-2 and it was not a good movie.

@Sanjeev . Well, for us , mass bunking the class at Delhi University and going to Batra and Alpana in Mukherjee Nagar was a regular affair. We did that for every good release. And I remember even taking our professors too on certain occasions. Our source of entertainment was limited and movie used to excite. Moreover, there were better movies then that could be watched with friends and family. The number of good movies are definitely becoming less.

In our time there was no PVR but Priya cinema was nearby my college (Dayal Singh) if you know. We used to bunk college and go to watch movies there at that time.

@Sanjeev. I know of Dayal Singh College though I never visited it. I was in Hindu College, North campus. I spent my five beautiful years there doing my graduation and post graduation. Then I moved to JNU for my post graduate diploma Biotechnology before moving to the US l.
Mukherjee Nagar was close by.

I was doing Maths Honours in Dayal Singh college but left it as I got admission in an Engineering college but it was a good experience. It was not a good college I would say, I wanted to take admission in the north campus but could not get except in Ramjas and Khalsa so preferred Dayal Singh.

Till date i still watch a lot of movies, like i literally watch all kinds of movies ranging from English to Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thailand and so on, even animations as well but i won't call myself a movie buff though

So you watch them with the subtitles on the bottom of the screen. I don't watch movies in any other language except Hindi and English.

Lol yes, i watch them with the subtitles, and i kind of find it fun hearing their languages though. I think i have watched a few Hindi movies but that was a very long time ago.

When I was in my late teens and early 20s, I used to watch a lot of movies. I used to watch 1-2 movies on theater every week, I used to watch 2-3 movies on HBO or DVD. I also enjoyed talking about movies. But these days I don't watch movies much.

That was me before, but now no more. I am busy at work, and when I arrived home, I took a short nap and posted on my favorite forum site.

I like listening to korean or chinese language , though I understand nothing but still I like their pronunciation and the way they speak 😀

I am not a movie bluff but I've got a couple of friends who are so attached to movies. I don't engross myself in movies but many of my friends can go above and beyond for movies.🤣

Lol yes that's what makes it a lot more fun how the language sounds, and their expression when speaking as well.

The only time I watch movies is during the weekends, and even at that I only watch a few. I don’t watch for hours as movies are not exactly my go to place for much fun and entertainment.

Before the pandemic I watched movie in the cinema weekly. But after the pandemic I no longer have interest. I only watch through my phone.

@Sanjeev . All the colleges in Delhi University are good. Good that you got engineering seat aa you would have wished for.
@eLdavis . I too enjoy movies from any language and culture as long as it is well made and entertaining. OTT platforms provide a lot of opportunities to watch cinema and shows across different culture. If the audio is not available, I would go for subtitles. And it is fun in it's own way. I watch Korean dramas with my elder daughter. She is learning the language and will watch in Korean. When I am with her, she puts English subtitles.
@Nomad . Your journey sounds like mine. I got married to another movie buff and we continued till the pandemic. And then we stopped going to theaters ( occasionally for very good movies in news). Even the movie watching has reduced. Interest is also coming down.
@uptrendfinancialsignal . I know few people who would watch anything and everything . Even when I was movie buff, I was selective and watched only good movies. I really regretted watching few bad ones and wasting my time and money there.
@Kennysplash . Now even my TV and movie watching is limited to Friday and Saturday nights. Time is a constraint now. And now I prefer to do other things for entertainment
@Starmix . Cinema watching has definitely changed since pandemic. The popularity of digital platforms and OTT has increased and more and more people prefer to watch movies from comfort of home.

I consider myself a movie buff as I watch a lot of movies, even today. I may not watch as much as I would like to, but I am still very in love with movies. I watch at least 1-2 movies a week, but I used to watch a movie a night for a while there. Last year I logged over 200+ movies, but the year before that I logged over 400, my most in a year yet. Some nights I'd watch 2 movies.

As for heading to a theater, I don't do that as much as I used to. Mainly because it's like a half hour drive to get to one. I wish my town had its own movie theater. I guess it had one back in the day, but not anymore.

That's pretty impressive, i have never been to the movies myself, i always watch all my movies from home.

I have to say that you really have time to watch that much movies. No matter how hard I try to get involved I cannot even pull off 50 movies in a year. It takes a lot of seriousness for you to achieve that.
Well I cannot exactly blame myself too as I have so much on my plate. So I gave little time to watch that much movies.
