I am the sole earner of my family. My wife looks after the home and kids. She is educated but I didn't let her work because of the kids. We have twin kids which could not be left for someone else to take care of. She was a teacher when unmarried and in an international call center when she got married and before having kids. Then she left the job and we never repented for this decision.

@Sanjeev. It's a wise decision especially when your wife was happy doing it and chose it. It's a personal choice and it becomes a stress if it is forced on someone. In a marriage, both are independent adults ( educated or not so educated), there should be nothing like allowing your partner or letting them to do or not do. It's a mutual decision between two equal adults. Children need parents especially in earlier years and if one can afford to be stay at home parent, one should.
Your wife is not earning but she is definitely contributing a lot to the finance of thr family. You are saving on child care, household helps like cook etc. And most importantly, she is managing the budget. Even if she is not the main financial planner, she is working as a team there to be in line with yours. That's a big contribution.
