Is marriage essential in life?

I don't think it is essential in life if one can live alone easily. In our culture people say it is necessary to get married and have kids, but I don't believe in it; if one cannot take the responsibility of a family, then it's better to live alone. What do you say? What do people say in your culture regarding marriage?

It could be essential if you are alone or have only a very few relatives. You need someone to take good care of you once you are old and sickly. However, many reports said that marriages are made to be broken, so it becomes useless too.

No, it's not that marriages are meant to break. I have been married for 21 years now. Actually, in life you need a companion who may understand you, and you may be able to share everything with him/her; that's why it's important to get married but not essential.

I didn't generalize my assumptions that all marriages will be broken. It's a case to case situation especially in the Western countries were divorced is legalized. My country doesn't have divorce, however, there are also many marriages broken.

Well that totally depends on the individual. There are some people that do not care about getting married, and there are those that are always on the lookout for their significant other.

For me, I strongly believe that marriage is not essential for everybody. Some people are genuinely happy being single and that one is not a crime at all. But if you meet the right person, marriage brings joy and it's a very beautiful thing that each and every individual would wish for. Most of the problems with marriages started when people rushed into it because of pressure from family, society, age, all those things. I’ve seen marriages that give people peace, and I’ve seen the opposite. So I think it depends on the person and situation.

Yes, it depends on the situation and person, as some people are so egoistic that they don't want to listen to anyone and want to be superior to anyone. They think they are always right, and such people cannot live in any relationship, so such people must not get married and try to improve themselves before going into any relationship.
