Do you negotiate when you go for shopping, with the stores?

No, I don't, but my wife does, and she saves a lot, and that's the reason I always try to take her whenever I go for the shopping. I see there is a lot of profit margin in a product; that's why they negotiate price. Do you bargain when you are buying things? I know branded items are sold at the MRP; it's very rare that the shopkeeper lowers the price, but for local products it's not an issue.

I don't just buy without negotiating or pricing. Even in big stores, where I can't negotiate I always look for discountI or promo code. It’s like it's been part of me to always negotiate and I think it's what we do here in most cases. We really don't want to spend money lavishly. There was a time I priced sneakers from $14 to $8 and I felt like I won the jackpot that day. But sometimes, when I see it’s fixed price, I just respect myself and move on.

Shopkeepers always say that they have a fixed price for everything, but the fact is there is a large profit margin in everything they sell. Still, they give discounts on the things because they know that they still earn well after the discount they give.

You can't negotiate in some supermarkets. Their prices are always fixed, so there's that. But then, in other local stores I try to beat down the price a bit. Some of those store owners can go too far with their prices sometimes.

@Teegold Yes, at some places the prices are fixed, and usually I don't purchase from such places because I feel they sell the things at higher prices. I have compared prices of supermarkets and local markets many times and have found lots of differences.

I only bargain when there are no price tags. But I do get attractive offers or discounts from some popular supermarket where I regularly shop. I have different kinds of cards for payments and I enjoy discount when those payment company have promotions. Sometimes, they give up to 10% discount for using a particular type of card for payments for a specified period. I also enjoy loyalty discounts in a few stores.
