According to local authorities, the terrorist organization Boko Haram carried out an overnight attack in northeastern Borno State, Nigeria, killing over 60 people. At least five soldiers were killed when terrorists attacked the village of Darul Jamal, which is near a military camp on the Nigeria-Cameroon border, on Friday night. Following reports of the raid on the community, whose inhabitants had just returned after years of displacement, the Nigerian Air Force claimed to have killed 30 militants in strikes. The attack coincides with a rise in jihadist activity in northeastern Nigeria, where competitors, the West African branch of the Islamic State group, are intensifying their attacks and Boko Haram is engaged in combat.
Anytime I hear the news of a boko haram attack, it is always heavy in my heart because that is my country. Boko haram has formed a very strong camp and it has been so difficult for the soldiers to overpower them and this is because they have sponsors from the Western countries. Recently, Trump designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern due to killings that were carried out by boko haram. As a country and a sovereign nation, we detest the Americans to step their foot on our soil but any assistance they can offer to fight the insurgency is welcomed. Imagine people sleeping and the next thing is chaos in the middle of the night.. Nigeria is a very peaceful nation but those people came and started terrorizing the northern part of the country. They didn't come down South because there will be no room for them here.
It's always painful for me too when I read about such terrorist attacks. I also belong to a country where there was terrorism so frequent in the past in the border cities, especially Kashmir, but things are controlled nowadays since our prime minister has taken strict actions against terrorists. But still the recent bomb blast in the heart of Delhi has shaken the country again, and we are still investigating and will take action when things get clear.
