Xbox Game Pass is getting a price increase

Xbox Game Pass, both the Ultimate and the Core, are getting a price increase, $10 price increase from $19.99 to $29.99, and I believe in the UK it will be £10 more.

What are your thoughts on this price increase? Are you willing to pay it?

Microsoft has announced that it is jacking up the price of the Xbox Game Pass' Ultimate tier to $29.99 per month, but is adding 48 games in the process. Xbox Game Pass has steadily gotten more expensive as the years have gone by, but while it is certainly more costly than it was when it was first introduced, it's still easily the best deal in gaming.

With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, subscribers get access to a huge catalog of games, including brand-new, day one releases. The Xbox Game Pass day one releases are the biggest selling point of the service, and there is certainly plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. The Xbox Game Pass October 2025 lineup is especially stacked, with big day one releases like Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 right around the corner.

Still, there will likely be many fans who are upset about the Game Pass Ultimate price increase from $19.99 per month to $29.99 per month. The new pricing will go into effect immediately for new subscribers, and on November 4 for current subscribers. To justify the price increase, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now include Ubisoft+ titles and starting November 18, Fortnite Crew benefits. For Fortnite players that were already subscribed to Fortnite Crew, the price increase effectively pays for itself, but those that aren't interested are likely not going to react well to the increase.

I haven't had gamepass in a while, and after this recent price hike I have no plans to get it anytime soon. It's crazy that a company that is estimated to be worth around $4 Trillion dollars, needs to hike their prices up like this. And on top of that, laying off thousands of people pretty much yearly, and just recently raising the prices for all of the current gen consoles. They clearly don't care one damn bit about the consumer and it shows. Thank goodness Microsoft is getting a ton of backlash for this. So much so, that gamers have been cancelling gamepass in droves. I have a feeling they might go back on their price raise or at least cut it down some. But who knows these days.

Some good news though, it seems that GameStop has been roasting Xbox for this, and they even are honoring the original pricing for Gamepass codes, at least until they run out of the codes they already have. Surprised to see GameStop getting a win here.
