What are you like with blood tests and needles?

I hate needles. When I'm at the blood test place getting a blood test done I'm semi-okay but the thought and build up almost gives me a panic attack.

As a diabetic I need to have one every few months but I always put them off.

I was able to have both primary COVID shots but the first one almost made me faint. The second one I had to do because they rolled out vaccine passports at the time in New Zealand so it was either having the second shot or not going anywhere.

I was never afraid of the needles when I grew up. In childhood I used to get scared of the same. My wife still cries when she has to give blood samples or get a vaccination. I am also diabetic and have to check blood sugar weekly through a glucometer.

In most cases I don't really like needles but any time I want to take an injection, I close my eyes and look away and before I know it, it's already done. The pain is just a small sting, nothing you can't handle.

I don't have a problem with my blood being drawn out. The only thing that gets me scared is the sight of the needle going into my body and the initial prick of it. I have gotten used to it right now because my sister is a nurse. Any sign of illness, she would set cannula in my vein to deliver treatments. She said IV medications are faster than other forms.

I don't feel comfortable with needles, either when sample is taken for test or injection. In fact, I normally prefer taking medicine than injections unless I have no choice.
