Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi, the proclaimed prime minister of Yemen, was killed earlier this week by Israeli airstrikes, according to confirmation from the Houthi rebel organization. The Iran-backed group claimed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) assassinated a number of other high-ranking officials during their Thursday attack on Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. Without providing any other information, the IDF claimed at the time that it had targeted a Houthi "military target" in the Sanaa region. Since 2014, the Houthis have dominated a large portion of northwest Yemen after overthrowing the internationally recognized government in Sanaa and starting a catastrophic civil war.
