These days when life is so fast everywhere, we see competition, and at this level, one must be able to fight back against the pressure he/she feels at work or anywhere.
I am not the one who easily copes with such pressure, although I don't succumb to it, whereas there are lots of people who can't tolerate it and fail.
There are lots of people who find it hard. My daughter, who has board exams in the next two months, is feeling stressed and is dealing with the anxiety issues to such an extent that we had to take her to a psychiatrist for treatment.
@Sanjeev. Your daughter is not an isolated case. These days, I am overworked at school as I also work with High school students dealing with mental issues. I do counsel families too. It bleeds my heart to see how these young children who should be all carefree are feeling the pressure and are going through a prolonged mental stress. And it's not always from family expectations, there are many other factors like peer pressure, social media validation, some unseen pressure and expectations that they feel etc. Children and young adults these days are living in a very insecure and lonely environment. It's unfortunate that the system and society fails to bring up healthy younger generation. This is going to show up in coming times as very bad social and economic impact.
You are a loving and involved father. I am sure that your daughter will soon get back to track with all love and support. Just we need to keep reminding them that they are above all exams and nothing decides their worth.
It does get overwhelming when there are a lot on the plate at once. For my kind of work, I don't feel stressed as I love the work. But during November and December and in March, there is lot of community events around education and training, workshops etc. And most of them are on weekends. I am either conducting them or attending them. Some of them go from 9 to 7. So, I definitely feel tired as I don't get weekends to rest. It does get tiring. We enjoy it with all learning and sharing involved in there. But it does get tiring. I had no weekends in the last two weeks and this week also I would just get half a day on Sunday to relax.
I don't mind working for long but when I see my colleagues not bothered about the work, I tend to feel bad and they are like bad apples that should be thrown away so the good apples stay good
I'd say I handle it reasonably well, but it definitely depends on the type of pressure. When I can break things down into manageable tasks and prioritize, I cope much better. What really helps me is taking short breaks to clear my head and not letting work consume all my mental energy.
@Ginger. I have heard this kind of complaint from all places be it school, college or workplace Seeing your colleague relax and not care while you are slogging can be disheartening and demotivating too. And it gets worse when some of such colleagues get better recognition and promotion with all that they do other than work. @uptrendfinancialsignal. You are quite meticulous there with your approach. These are really helpful tips to cope with the work pressure. I apply them too. They are effective ways.
