Christmas 2025 Have you started preparing for Christmas?

I know that there is still more than a month and half for the big day to come. Christmas is the biggest celebration across the globe and this once in a year celebration is much awaited for many across the globe. A lot goes in planning and preparing for this day. You want to do everything near perfect because you want some special memories for your loved ones. Special meals, family get together, cards, gifts, decoration...the list is long and you want to be well prepared in time. So, what's happening at your end? Have you started preparing for it? What's the progress?

I erected my tiny tree. My main tree will go up on the 14th. It's usually up by now but the 14th would have been my mother's 90th birthday. My Christmas shopping is already done.

@eLdavis . There is still a month to go. You have a clarity about having cakes and that can be seen as a good start. I am sure that slowly many more things might pop up.
@MamaFrankie . That's a good start. You have already made a noticeable progress there with Christmas preparation. I am sure that the festive mood has already set in at your end. You choose your mom's 90th birthday as the day to put up your main tree. That is pretty emotional.

Usually, I will have started preparing for it, but this year, due to my dad passing and the year just seeming to fly by, how close we are to Christmas just seems to have hit me hard.

I am hoping to start within the next week or so. I guess one thing is now that my kids are older, they don't expect as much and tend to only ask for things they need, so it makes buying gifts easier :)

@Shortie . I know loosing a parent can leave a void that is not easy to fill. The meaning of celebration too changes with such loss. And with kids growing, they outgrow certain things that excites them as kids. But as parents we always want the same excited kids for all our festival celebrations. It's tough for us to grow with them. Haha!
@King Belieal . That sounds exciting! I am sure that you will have enough savings to make it happen. We too are going out for a week for family vacation during Christmas week. It's a long due family vacation and fortunately this time we would be able to make it as four of us have holidays together .
@Sanjeev . That is understandable and relatable. Being a Hindu household, we never celebrated it either. But then my girls got few Christian friends and they wanted tree and gifts. So, we had that as Christmas ritual for all these years. Now, they are grown up and outgrown the excitement. Last year, elder one was not here as she got her semester break in mid January. Younger one was not excited and nothing happened. This year, elder one is coming in mid Dec. Let's see what happens. Anyways, we are going to Goa for a family vacation during Christmas week.

I'll admit I'm bad about getting prepared for Christmas early, I usually wait until the last minute to do my shopping lol. So I am definitely not ready for Christmas yet, plus lots of things go on sale here in the states after Thanksgiving so I'll probably wait until then to get ready. We will be putting our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving this year though, we got a new tree this year.

I haven't started yet and to be honest we don't really decorate a whole bunch anymore. We will put up the tree most years, but some years didn't even bother. I'm sure this year we'll put the tree up sometime in December. I don't recall ever putting it up this early, but I could be wrong. Christmas still rocks, but it's not what it used to be. Maybe that's because I'm an adult and it doesn't feel the same anymore. idk. We still celebrate it, so that's all that matters in my book.

I’ve not started thinking about it and I don't want to go through the stress of last-minute shopping because prices always jump up. I’m still looking for Christmas lights that is very durable, unlike the one I bought last year, it spoiled after one week. To be honest, I don't usually feel this season until I start hearing those old Boney M songs and neighbours frying chicken everywhere. And once I started seeing harmattan and my lips start to crack a little, that’s when I knew Christmas was just around the corner. 😂.

I'm already finished with my Christmas shopping. I always start my Christmas shopping when the kiddos start going back to school (which is about mid-August here where I live) and I'm usually finished with my Christmas shopping by Halloween. I already have to work out in the Christmas rush......I don't want to have to get back out in it on my two days off each week.
