Here in India we live with our parents even when we get married; we don't leave them, unlike the Western culture. I live with my parents because I cannot leave them at their old age. What about you? Do you live with your parents? Or do your parents live separately?

When I was a child I lived with my parents. But my mom died when I was 6 years old and my dad died one year after my college graduation. I'm now living with my sisters. We are all working. My elder sister works in the bank as a bank teller and my other sister an accountant newly married with a seaman husband international.

No I moved out a year ago. But I did not go far away from them, that way I am able to drop by once in a while to check on them. When I first left it was a little rough, but it was something I had to do.

Yes, it feels bad when you leave your parents at first, but then the things settle themselves. I have seen people leave their parents when they grow old because they feel that they are a burden for them. Old parents, as they become weak and diseased, and one has to spend money for the medicines on them, so they become a burden for them. It's sad that they are sent to the old age homes and have to live alone.

Yes they can live without me. We moved in to my parents while we fixed up our credit and got out of debt. New Zealand also has a major housing crisis so it's very hard to find a home at times.

In the USA, Germany New Zealand, Austria, and other countries allow their kids to leave home to live independently and that's part of their culture and slowed or approved by their laws. In my country, even after marriage, some kids still live with their parents which is why, there is an extended family.

@Starmix we have a culture that after marriage too we live with our parents, and that's how the family grows, but it depends on how our relations are; sometimes it becomes difficult to adjust and have to move from the parent's place.

I no longer have parents, but I always lived with them until well into adulthood as they wouldn't let me leave home.

I haven't lived with my parents since I got married. But if it weren't for my husband, I'd have to move back in with my parents because I don't make enough money to be able live by myself.

@JennyorAlice That's fine. Like you need money to live similarly at old age, parents may need your support physically, as at old age people get weak and require a person to help them out.
