My daughter is 16 years old. Last week she had a fever and cough; we gave her cough syrup and medicines after consulting a doctor. The next day, after taking the pills and syrup, she felt dizziness, and she said her body was not working and her heartbeats were fast. My wife rushed her to a nearby hospital, and various tests were done, and everything was normal.
She was hospitalized for two days under observation, and the doctor said that she had a panic attack. I don't know why she had it because she doesn't take too much stress for anything. I am surprised. Now she is fine, and we are taking extra care of her and praying she doesn't get it in the future.
I want to ask, what is a panic attack? Is it something related to depression or what?

According to what I have heard, anxiety is when your mind will not calm down even when everything is okay. You are nervous, your heart races, and at times you just get the feeling that something bad will happen without having any idea why. It is not simply worrying yourself to death as people put it, it is something that just happens when you are nervous.

I am so sorry to hear this happened to your daughter :( I had something very similar happen back in 2015 after I had finally gotten out of a mentally abusive relationship with my four children.

I had a day where I was feeling okay in myself, but suddenly I became dizzy, my heartbeat was fast, and I knew something wasn't right. I contacted my mum, and my grandma took me to A&E to be checked. We spent around 6 hours in A&E, where I had checks and tests done, and they couldn't find any health reason why I felt like that. I explained to them my sudden change in my life, leaving a mentally abusive relationship and becoming a single parent to 4 children, and they told me it seemed like I had a panic attack, which stemmed from anxiety.

I now know how to look for that and know that when I start to feel that way, it is best to find something to help me ground myself and calm me down.

@Spooky Shortie But that's a different case with a 16-year-old girl whose life has not started yet. We are not able to find out what the reason for her anxiety is. I have talked to her school teacher and tuition teacher, and they say she is a smiling girl, and they have never seen her bothered by anything. I even talked to her friends, and they too have no idea why she is so stressed. I am worried for her whenever she says that her heart is beating fast.

I can see why that may be worrying. Could it possibly be that something is worrying her, but she is not speaking up for some reason?

Speaking with a doctor and allowing them to rule out things can usually help. I do know that Generalised Anxiety Disorder is something that can cause this.

She was hospitalized for 2-3 days, and they did all the tests, like ECG and echo, to check how her heart is functioning, and everything was fine in the reports.
Someone suggested I should see a psychiatrist for her; maybe that will help to find out what is bothering her.

That could always help. In most cases, some doctors can only do so much, and if tests are coming back fine, taking it to other specialists could help.

I do hope you find out what is causing her anxiety.

Anxiety simply means worrying about what has happened or what will happen. Many anxious people do not really have any control over what they feel and it is quite difficult for them to get over it.
But it is not impossible, they need to understand that anxiety does not good for them and the issues at hand.
